TK10 - Automotive Electrical Test Procedures


Course TK10 is an intermediate level course aimed at vehicle technicians who wish to learn more about the properties of electricity, the various types of circuit and how this affect current and voltage as well as understanding more about series, parallel and more complex circuits.

The course also covers effective use of multimeters in vehicle diagnosis and particularly in the use of voltage drop testing, which is the backbone of testing electrical systems on any vehicle.

Additionally, the course covers the operation of starter motor circuits, alternator and charging circuits as well as giving an overview of Smart Charging and Stop-Start systems, naturally we also cover testing of these circuits.

The course is structured using in class learning reinforced with plenty of practical tasks.

There is an exam at the end of the course and provided the delegate meets the pass criteria a certificate is issued.

The course runs over two days or four evenings dependent on the delivery method.

TK15 - Effective Use of Oscilloscopes

Course TK15 is an intermediate level course aimed at vehicle technicians who wish to learn more about the use of oscilloscopes in the automotive world.

The course covers how oscilloscopes actually work, how to connect an oscilloscope to various types of sensors and actuators and what waveforms to expect back from these components.

The course is aimed at users of various different types of oscilloscope, though we mainly use Pico & Bosch oscilloscopes. We aim to cover as  many machines as possible including some of the setup on each ‘scope.

However, we strongly suggest that you are familiar with whatever type of ‘scope you own and use, and perhaps have attended the manufacturers training course for that particular piece of equipment prior to attending this course, this will enable you to get the best out of the course.

The course is structured using in class learning reinforced with plenty of practical tasks.

There is an exam at the end of the course and provided the delegate meets the pass criteria a certificate is issued.

We strongly suggest that all delegates attend our TK10 Automotive Electrical test procedures course prior to attending TK15, as this will enable you to get the most out of the TK15 course.


The course runs over two days or four evenings dependent on the delivery method.



TK20 - Petrol Ignition Systems

Course TK20 is an intermediate level course aimed at vehicle technicians who wish to learn more about how petrol spark ignition systems actually operate.

The course covers how ignition systems from the earliest types through to the most modern ignition coils actually work.

The course aims to show how the ignition coil actually works, how it is triggered and how to diagnose faults within the ignition system.

We cover form the earliest coil fired ignition systems through to the latest multi-strike coil on plug ignition systems. We also look at misfire detection systems in this course.

The course is structured using in class learning reinforced with plenty of practical tasks.

There is an exam at the end of the course and provided the delegate meets the pass criteria a certificate is issued.

We strongly suggest that all delegates attend our TK10 Automotive Electrical test procedures course and our TK15 Oscilloscope User’s Course, prior to attending TK20, as this will enable you to get the most out of the TK20 course.

TK30 - Manifold Petrol Injection Engine Management

Course TK30 is an intermediate level course aimed at vehicle technicians who wish to learn more about how conventional engine management (manifold injection) systems actually work.

The course covers how engine management has evolved over the last few decades, it gives information and practical sessions on how sensors & actuators actually work and real world working for problem solving.

This course is ideal for technicians who want to reinforce their knowledge of the most common engine management systems currently in use.

The course is structured using in class learning reinforced with plenty of practical tasks.

There is an exam at the end of the course and provided the delegate meets the pass criteria a certificate is issued.

We strongly suggest that all delegates attend our TK10, TK15 & TK20 Courses, prior to attending TK30, as this will enable you to get the most out of the TK30 course.

TK40 - Direct Petrol Injection Systems

Course TK40 is an intermediate level course aimed at vehicle technicians who wish to learn more about how Direct Petrol Injection Systems actually work.

The course covers how Direct injection systems work, the GDI/FSI systems in detail and how they differ from conventional engine management systems.

The course is ideal for those working with these latest generation of direct injection systems and those wishing to know more about the very latest dual manifold and direct injection systems.

The course is structured using in class learning reinforced with plenty of practical tasks.

There is an exam at the end of the course and provided the delegate meets the pass criteria a certificate is issued.

We strongly suggest that all delegates attend our TK10, TK15, TK20 & TK30 courses prior to attending TK40, as this will enable you to get the most out of the TK40 course.

TK50 - Common Rail Diesel Systems

Course TK50 is an intermediate level course aimed at vehicle technicians who wish to learn more about how Common Rail Diesel Systems actually work.

The course covers an overview of diesel principles then moves forward into how common rail diesel systems operate and how to diagnose them.

To ensure greater understanding of common rail diesel, we first cover diesel principles then cover common rail systems from the late 90’s through to the latest low mass injector systems via piezo based systems. We cover the many options available to OE manufacturers as this is such a mix & match group of systems.


The course is structured using in class learning reinforced with plenty of practical tasks.

There is an exam at the end of the course and provided the delegate meets the pass criteria a certificate is issued.

We strongly suggest that all delegates attend our TK10, TK15, TK20, TK30 & TK40 courses prior to attending TK50, as this will enable you to get the most out of the TK50 course.


The course runs over three days or six evenings dependent on the delivery method.
